Delicious dutch soft bread roll with a tasty sausage. Made from fresh ingredients.
Fresh (Brabant) sausage rolls made at home according to an old Dutch recipe. Brabants sausage bread is a typical bread from the Dutch province of North Brabant. The bread is about six inches long and is filled with a ground beef sausage. In contrast to the sausage roll, the sausage bread is not made from puff pastry, but made from soft white bread dough. Sausage bread originated as a way to make meat more durable by rolling it in dough and baking it. Traditionally, it was mainly eaten during Christmas (especially after midnight mass) and carnival, but it is only sold sporadically in other Dutch provinces. In March 2016, the Brabant sausage bread was included in the list of intangible heritage by UNESCO.
